At Zehnder, it is important to us to ensure that the air in your home is fresh and, above all, clean. In addition to energy-efficient construction, the increasing concentration of fine particles and the resulting allergies are always at the forefront of the development of our solutions for a healthy room climate.

New ISO 16890 standard: The high quality of Zehnder original air filters is confirmed
Only the designation of Zehnder’s original filters changes.

Whether it’s fine particles, pollen, spores, or soot particles, Zehnder’s original air filters already filter out micro-particles from the air – and the new ISO 16890 standard now also measures this. The new standard meets the growing need for a healthy room climate by providing reliable information on the efficiency of air filters.

What changes for you with the new ISO 16890 air filter standard

Find out how you can benefit from the new ISO 16890 standard for air filters and what changes for you.

The new ISO 16890 standard for air filters: Clean air guaranteed with Zehnder

The ISO 16890 standard for the evaluation and classification of filters has supplemented the old EN 779 standard since January 2017 and will be fully applicable from 1 July 2018. With the old EN 779 standard, filtration properties were only measured for particles of 0.4 µm. The new test standard, on the other hand, now differentiates between four filtration classes and ensures that particles of different sizes are taken into account when measuring. In concrete terms, this means that the performance of the air filter is clearly indicated and that you can thus more easily decide which air filter is ideal for you.

Why do I need comfort ventilation?
Comfort ventilation promotes good health because an optimal supply of oxygen and air without draughts is not only good for your sleep, but also for your concentration and performance. The increasing concentration of fine particles and the resulting allergies cause concentration problems for many people – and a healthy room climate and clean air are becoming increasingly important in the private sphere.

Which filters should I buy now?
With the old EN 779 standard, the filtration properties were only measured for particles of 0.4 µm. The new test standard now differentiates between four filter classes and ensures that particles of different sizes are taken into account in the measurements.
In practice, this means that the micro-particles in the air are now also taken into account, making it easier for you to decide which air filter is ideal for you.

I still have old filters. How long can I continue to use them?
You can continue to use filters that were tested according to the old EN 779 standard. However, they are now grouped according to the new ISO 16890 standard from TechnologyWolf.
